You could see it coming down the tracks, that GOP freight train high-balling right into the past. They campaigned on it, the governor and her legislative allies: the gay bashing, the book banning, the $2 billion tax cut and the private school vouchers taken out of the hide of public school budgets, plus more, like loosening up child labor laws and making it harder for poor folks to get food stamps, and trying to fix our Byzantine property tax system on the fly.
Heavy sigh. Summed up perfectly. I'm so disappointed in our state. I hope I live long enough to see that pendulum smack Reynolds back to obscurity and take her Republican legislators with her. Gonna need a very big pendulum.
I sincerely hope our governor’s “best of times” ( which are the same as my “worst of times”) don’t last. I don’t think that many Iowans are as mean -spirited as it appears right now.
Some days I have to take a mental health break from the Iowa news.
"In the absence of meaningful Democratic opposition, we can expect more of the same in the next session. "--Art Cullen
Bingo! The D's are committing political malpractice in Iowa with their "coastal" cultural issues, from school curricula thru gender dysphoria to "defund the police", enabling unified government by the R's and the inevitable excesses. Only divided government can force compromise on the major issues, neuter the nonsense and protect us from either extreme and without a competent Democratic Party it won't happen. To paraphrase W.F. Buckley: "Nominate the most liberal candidate that can get elected!" Without electoral success nothing will change.
Voters get what they asked for

That pendulum can't swing fast enough. Need a strong Gubernatorial candidate.
