You’re late to the party, Art. When IBP left a 7 year old year old plant here in Fort Dodge to set up a plant in Storm Lake people like you started talking of the wonders of diversity. Liberals love diversity as long as everyone thinks as they do. Folks on the left seemed to imply that a shameless corporate outlaw like IBP had become one of them. After 12 years of Republican abuse working people helped to elect Bill Clinton. I was one of them. NAFTA, something Mr. Smooth never mentioned during the campaign became the center piece of his economic policy.
Trump a liar? Sure. But Clinton destroyed private sector unions, practically encouraged business to move south in search of cheap labor. He devastated ordinary people in a way previous Democratic leaders never did. There’s no way back from poverty.
The professional class, who still love the Clintons, have been wandering around asking how anybody like Trump could ever be elected. Ask any union member formerly at a meat pacing plant why. Clinton crushed their hope. Trump, full of it though he may be gives a glimmer of something better. Hell, the Democrats think we’re racists. Where do you go?
I wrote a long thank you, destroyed by a single missed key. I could never have been a print setter! I wish the truth would return to the electronic version of 'front page, above the fold' and not below the fold, continued on..., or on an inside left hand page.
You are on point yet again. It's a great relief to find someone to talk to without fear of alienating them or, even worse, setting them spinning on a rant. I really feel the lack of "community", of wanting the common good.
