Thanks, Art. What will happen in Storm Lake will happen to different degrees all over Iowa. We will lose the labor we need and the friends we have made. I am so ashamed of what Iowa has become. Iowa nice? Hardly.
Over twenty percent of health care workers were born overseas. That number is higher in rural America. What number of those health care workers are actually documented...and do we think all their family members are, as well?
The biggest shortage is in certified nursing assistants, the very individuals our elderly Iowa population rely on...if not today, soon. Is it sweet justice that Iowa's GOP, drunk with centralized Machiavellian rule, suffer from their deeds in a few short years...or that their parents do, a bit sooner? And how 'bout those food prices? Picked tomatoes recently, Mr. Kaufman?
How 'bout asking our U.S. House members to insist that the bipartisan immigration bill come to the floor for a vote...so we can give our immigrants a fighting chance to help us grow old with dignity.
Living in Texas but having just become a farm owner in Iowa, this concerns me greatly. It’s all about kissing up to Trump and his He-Man Cronies who wouldn’t know what a hard days work was if it tapped them on the shoulder.
In my own case, my mother moved us to Texas when I was 15, and no one explained to me that White Folks hands don’t touch hard work. I worked like I was a Farm Kid from Iowa . My awareness was that my workmates were Black Folks the first fifteen years and Brown Men since 1978. I still put my hand to hard work at age 73 and my Crew is Mexican Men who are 941 Tax and Social Security payers from their first day. Due to longevity, I have helped some attain legal status. One , an employee since 1987 is currently working on his US Citizenship. .
During the Trump Regime, especially during Covid, if you were brown, you got rounded up and put into deportation camp, where exposure to Covid was a given. We were some of the people who had to keep working during Covid. We worked outside and did the necessary work.
I have no respect for the Macho Texas Bullies who hold office here. I watched Representative King, Governor Reynolds, and your historic Farmer Fossil Senator Graseley ape those Texas Bullies compete to sitteth at the Right Hand of Trump the Father.
When it looked like I was going to to have an Iowa Farm to deal with in 2022, and paying Iowa Income Tax and Property Tax I began getting involved in Iowa Politics. They are not going to like this True Blue Farm Boy repatriating to Iowa, but I have already been in this Movie for years
I wonder how many in the Reynolds administration or who voted for the law have been stopped for 'driving while white'. I wonder if those same people carry legal documentation in their cars or persons proving they are legal residents. I wonder if any in the administration have met with people of color who have been stopped for driving while non-white. So that there is no doubt on her message, Reynolds and others supported dramatic reduction of the authority of the Iowa Civil Rights Commission which could have provided guide rails for recourse when this law is misapplied.

Stupid, stupid, evil, counterproductive law.
Thank you, Art.

Hard to hit “like” when you want to hit the “scream” button.
Iowa, a sad state of affairs.
The new state motto?!
