The Iowa Senate moved swiftly in its first week to advance a bill granting vouchers to families of private school students worth nearly $8,000 per head. It leaves me queasy for the speed and commitment of the Republican legislature and governor, and sets off alarm among others.
Thanks for your perspective. I feel hopeless for our state, as the Governor and legislators rip apart our system of educating students. We are heading for the bottom and it makes me sick. At 67, I can't muster the energy to fight all the Republican 'undoings' in our state and country.

That foundation is being chipped away. Teachers used to be honored. During the Covid shutdowns they had to go way beyond the call of duty. Now they are being criticized.
