The citizens of Kansas must be looking at all of this thinking that soon, Kansas won't be the place recognized as the most fiscally irresponsible state in recent history. Soon it will be Iowa. People really do need to pay attention. This is going to be an ugly journey.
We have a similar situation in Texas only have no State Income Tax.we have an8 1/4 percent sales tax and extremely high Property Tax for those not powerful enough to have influence on the taxing agencies. If one runs cows on their acres, their taxes are $10. per acre. I was surprised that the property tax on the 160 acre Rose Farm in Oceola County was only $3600 per year. This farm is a productive row crop farm while the 100 acres my wife owns in Texas costs about $100. The.Texas land is only good to provide oak trees for the 10 hungry cows who reside there to lean on.
Our residential taxation is vastly different. While tax rates are supposedly low, the Valuation is quite jacked up. The trend being that if it is priced at the value a speculator would ask for it on the market. This forced elderly long term residents to not be able to sustain ownership.
Country land here holds value if if one can land a petroleum lease or royalties. Wind turbines are another trend here that makes the country land worth holding . Turbines provide a more lasting income stream than petroleum. . Wish the Rose Farm could get a Turbine lease. Maybe we could quit allowing the land to be diminished.
ah yes, the raygun trickle down theory, seems to be working as well as his star wars space protection system...thanks for nothing ronnie...we should have kept him locked up in the who radio studios...but then we would have to worry about the farm markets?? oh well...
BraVo, Art. They'll ignore your point, of course, but your readers won't.
