Thanks for your specific policy prescriptions for a better Iowa. I am only one of many Iowans who are pushing candidates and one party in particular, to detail and publish their specific legislative ideas--even if none succeed..-Iowans will support elected officials who stand for the values you write of, what their progressive values and positions are -and over time, said values getting translated into policy.
Candidates and leaders with megaphones can take your column as a model. Iowans are on your side--it is so much more difficult today for Iowans to filter through all social media sites and fake news, and political propaganda,
You try to establish principles, while amplifying common values. What a small town paper, can do, not T or FB or TikTok can ever do. And NPR had a item today about an Alabama town losing all of its print papers. The NPR interviews with citizens reminded of the value of independent media..
It's not just rural Iowa, unfortunately. Plenty of young people in Polk and surrounding counties tell me they are wondering if Iowa is where they want to live, given recent legislative decisions and those that are expected to happen in 2023....
Thanks. Art. As Susan says, it’s not just rural Iowa. Hiring journalists is hard anywhere. But keeping and retaining talent in our state is a challenge.
