My favorite quote from your column? “You seldom go wrong overestimating stupidity”. That should be on a pillow and a mug and a beer glass and a very big whiskey glass.

My oldest son is an infectious disease doctor--he says that COVID will look like a walk in the park compared to the bird flu (I'm paraphrasing here--what he said was much more alarming).

We may not want meat if it's infected with bird flu. Since the big cats in Washington State died from eating raw meat, we'll at least cook it until it's well done. I'm not eating a steak that's well done--I'd prefer hamburger.

Arts’ concerns for 2025, such as: “The potential to do great harm is overwhelmingly tempting without effective opposition,” are prophetic…. for only those who mourn will be comforted.

We'll see how 2025 unfolds… Certainly a lot is on our plates — I’m not sure that even being a Minnesotan will keep the wolves from my door. These must be the "interesting times" we've heard so much about. Sending strength for your medical struggles and hope for us all, Art! ❤️

I'm hoping President Carter's funeral next week isn't a requiem for our democracy. Maybe if our once and future president attends, he will learn something.
