One needs to be awake to be woke. If you’re awake you might just be aware of what’s happening for the good and the bad. If you aren’t awake, and you can’t be woke, you may be just sleeping through life. What a waste. So, WOKE UP!

Actually, I hated the way DeSantis, now Ernst among others, used "woke" & thought, like Mark, it was a mere gingered up negative phrase by those with less than skilled use of the language. So, a while back, I looked it up in Webster's dictionary (quite sure it wouldn't be there, but might be in a slang dictionary). However, it is in Webster: "aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues especially of racial and social injustice". I find that pretty positive, while woke is most commonly used negatively. The slang dictionary defines woke essentially the same. I suppose the best defense of the popular disuse of woke would be to CORRECT its' overwhelmingly negatively disuse. A good place to start would be with DeSantis, since I have him use it more frequently than anyone else, and ALWAYS negatively. Plus, he seems to be spending a lot of time in Iowa now, thanks to his new galpal Reynolds.
