Dear Reader,
Thanks for subscribing to Art Cullen’s Notebook on Substack — special thanks to our paid subscribers! Your reward in Heaven will be great. Meantime, here’s a bonus contribution for your loyal readership: a short video documentary about a trip I recently took out West with my buddy John Russell over at The Holler to see what impact climate change is having across the country. I also wrote a column about it when we returned in early April.
We spoke with cattle producers, an ag economist, and and old surfer boy along the way. We learned that climate extremes, from epic drought to atmospheric rivers raining destruction, are wreaking havoc on our food systems. Check it out here:
Art,
Really liked your “travelogue” about climate impacts on agriculture. I just don’t understand why more farmers and ranchers don’t speak out about the disastrous effects of climate change on their ability to even stay in the family business and produce the food the country needs.

reminded me of our family trip to Colorado, when (in our confusion) we left Ann at a gas station in South Dakota and had to turn back after several miles...Ann seemed calm and untroubled...Mom was berserk. I don't think this type of leisure travel was ever repeated.
