Kate Couric of TV fame visited Storm Lake a few years ago to get a look at immigration in rural America. She emailed recently to ask how things have changed over the past six years or so. So I wrote her back. Click here to watch Couric’s story about Storm Lake, and my letter to her.

Art, you're a great wordsmith. Your note to Ms. Couric reminds me of the old Ding Darling cartoon in the Register of half the state of Iowa floating down the Mississippi River. And that was generations ago. Folks should read Josh Wearin's letter in "Letters from Iowans" on Iowa Writers Collaborative. It's related. Certainly instructive on an unglamorous but pervasive issue.
Oh,my brother, we humans surely forge the chains we wear in life just like Dickens said.
